The Throne of Glass story continues and I am ALL HERE FOR IT. Did it take me a long time to finish this book? Yeah, it really did. But that’s because I had some personal things going on that were taking up all of my free time and I wasn’t able to read a whole lot. That doesn’t mean I didn’t love it though because I really really did.
So Celaena turned away from the stars, nestling under the threadbare blanket against the frigid cold, and closed her eyes, trying to dream of a different world.
A world where she was no one at all.
We got a new character in this book and I was super excited because I really really like him. It felt like a, “There you are, I’ve been waiting for you,” moment for me. I just felt we were lacking a character and then ENTER Rowan. I don’t know if you heard me so let me just say it one more time for the people in the back… ENTER. ROWAN. You know what list he’s about to join. Hubba hubba.
Rowan grinned. “There you are.”
Ok, sorry. Moving on.
Ya know what Maas does not seem to fear in her writing? DEATH. This fact terrifies me moving forward. Not only with the Throne of Glass series but also with the Crescent City series once I finally make it there. I’m TERRIFIED of what she’s going to do to my soul. What little I have left thanks to her and a few other books I’ve read as of late.
As it usually goes with these books, there’s a new adventure Celaena is setting out on in this story and it was just as fun as the previous ones if you ask me. Is fun the word for it? I don’t know. But I enjoyed her antics, nonetheless. I feel like this story is about to get deep and painful and I’m a little nervous if I’m being honest. I have previous experience with SJM so I know she’s more than capable of ripping my heart out and squashing it leaving me immobilized for days on end. I’m not ready and I’ll never be ready but I’m going to trudge on.
Rowan paused his stalking. “You’re worthless.”
“Tell me something I don’t know.”
He went on, “You would probably have been more useful to the world if you’d actually died ten years ago.”
She just looked him in the eye and said, “I’m leaving.”
This book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. Just things that I need these characters to resolve PRONTO. But after some events from this book and the previous one, I feel I need to step away and read some other things between now and the next book. Maybe something lighter? I don’t know but I have plenty on my TBR to choose from. Let’s be honest, I’m going to end up picking something else that rips me to shreds. It’s just my nature. What can I say?
Aelin Galathynius smiled at her, hand still outreached. “Get up,” the princess said.
Celaena reached across the earth between them and brushed her fingers against Aelin’s.
And arose.
One more book to go once I finish my ToG hiatus and then I’ll be doing the tandem read of Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn. I’m kind of excited about my first-ever tandem read. Also a little nervous. It’s slightly intimidating. It’s like going from a 700-page book to a 1400-page book but I’m nervous-excited.
And though she knew he could read the words on her face, she said, “To whatever end?”
Did you do a tandem read for EoS and ToD? Did you read them separately? Are you just wayyyyy done and have read everything SJM has put out thus far? (I know, I’m behind.)
